Product origin and sourcing location are not always the same. We believe this distinction is important and aim to communicate it clearly wherever it is relevant to a product.
Product Origin
Product origin refers to the geographical origin traditionally associated with the ingredient or the origin identified for that particular product.
Sourced From
Sourced From refers to the region, market or supplier network through which Desi Origin procures a particular ingredient. This may differ from the ingredient’s geographical origin.
Example — Ceylon Cinnamon
Ceylon Cinnamon is traditionally associated with Sri Lanka as its geographical origin.
However, a particular Ceylon Cinnamon product or batch offered by Desi Origin may be sourced through established and reputed markets or supplier networks in the Kerala region.
In such a case, the product origin is Sri Lanka while the sourcing region may be Kerala, India. We prefer to keep these two details separate rather than create confusion around the product’s origin.

Desi Origin does not claim that its products are organic unless a product is specifically certified and clearly identified as organic. Terms such as traditional, natural or authentic should not be understood as an organic certification.
